Although this has been specifically mentioned on both sign up forms already, we seem to have recently had an increase in people applying for characters who were not born in the UK.
Characters may have parents from any nationality, and may spend time living abroad. However, in order for the magical Hogwarts roll to have recorded their names, they have to have been born within the UK borders. Otherwise other schools will have recorded their names, and this site (with the exception of our few Triwizard visitors) only covers Hogwarts at this time. They also need to be a resident of the UK when their Hogwarts letter arrives. They can live wherever they like for the ten or eleven years in between. But at those two times, canon states that they [b]must[/b] be in the UK. In addition to this, Hogwarts neither sends out, nor receives exchange students.
And finally we seem to have recently had a sudden increase in the amount of non-Indian Asian students. Though the UK does accept many immigrants, there are according to research done by the Harry Potter Lexicon a short while ago, almost twice as many Indian Asian immigrants as there are non-Indian Asian immigrants, particularly in the Greater London area. Therefore it may be necessary at some point in the near future for us to wait for other immigrant races to grow a little before accepting anymore in order to keep the numbers proportional. Please don't be offended if your non-Indian Asian character is denied. - We are not trying to be offensive to anyone, we are just trying to keep things relatively realistic as JK Rowling did in her books. :)
